Don’t know about you, but we need a break from all the packing lists we’ve been making, boxes we’ve been carrying and family members we’ve been hugging. After all, living at DePaul isn’t just about the physical space you’re in, it’s about the experiences you have and your involvement with all that DePaul has to offer. Take a seat on that shiny new futon of yours and check out these five events coming up in the month of September!
DePaul Does Labor Day: Part of Welcome Week and Back to School 2017, DePaul Does Labor Day takes you to some of Chicago’s most well-known landmarks. Make no mistake, your family will be asking “have you ever been to Navy Pier?” at every holiday gathering the foreseeable future. So join your fellow students, take some good selfies and scratch some items off that bucket list. When: Monday, September 4, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., meeting at the Lincoln Park Campus Student Center.
Loop Block Party: One of the activities at this event includes “a giant inflatable Blue Demon tunnel.” Not sure what else we really need to say besides, oh yeah, there are free donuts. If you’re living in the Loop, it’s only a few blocks away from the University Center. If you’re living in Lincoln Park, grab a friend and hop on the “L.” When: Wednesday, September 6, 3 – 6 p.m. in Pritzker Park (across from DePaul Center).
DePaul Art Museum Opening Reception: The art museum is a hidden gem of the Lincoln Park Campus and it will soon be introducing its newest exhibits. With free admission all year, it’s a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and browse the unique collections inside. When: Thursday, September 7, 6 – 8 p.m. at the DePaul Art Museum.
Student Involvement Fair and Real Life Recess: Say “hello” to DePaul’s 100+ student organizations (literally, they will have tables there). Find exactly where you fit at DePaul while playing all kinds of games with Campus Recreation. When: Friday, September 8, 1 – 4 p.m. on Lincoln Park Campus Quad.
Study Abroad Fair: First year abroad in France? Ireland? Italy?! Learn more about these and other programs. Scholarships are available and studying abroad in a DePaul-sponsored program does not incur a campus housing cancellation fee. When: Tuesday, September 26, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Lincoln Park Student Center, room 120.
