Living in the Loop, season by season.

Living in downtown Chicago? Yeah, that’s pretty darn cool. Whether you’re all about the hustle and bustle of the big city or relish the idea of a quiet place to sit and retreat, the University Center (our Loop Campus housing option) has it all. With a contemporary, urban style and modern amenities, the University Center is just steps away from DePaul’s Loop Campus and offers countless advantages, no matter the season!

Spring

Springtime in the Loop is a season of renewal and rejuvenation. Eradicate your cabin fever with a stroll down State Street (the same street where the University Center is housed) until you reach the city’s Riverwalk. There, jump on a shared bike service or kayak and take in the incredible architectural views of your downtown home.

Summer

Sometimes referred to as “Chicago’s front yard,” Grant Park is the University Center’s back yard! Offering over 300 acres of green space to relax, exercise and enjoy, being a short walk away from this one-of-a-kind Chicago resource is a great asset to living in the Loop. Oh and did we mention close access to all the downtown concerts? Mmm, we can taste the festival food already.

Fall

The elevated CTA Brown Line is the nexus of all things Loop. (No, really: The Loop is named for the neighborhood’s encircling train tracks.) As a University Center resident, you’ll have close access to this transit line and, in return, access to unrivaled scenic views of the Chicago River and surrounding areas. Watch the leaves change colors from the train windows, snap a selfie and sip a coffee as the train’s meandering pace gives you ample opportunity for personal reflection.

Winter

Located at the corner of South State Street and East Van Buren Street, the Harold Washington Library is a great place to “experience the outdoors, indoors” during Chicago’s winter months. The winter garden, located on the ninth floor, offers a quiet location away from campus to study, contemplate or simply gaze through the ceiling, which is made entirely of glass. Grab a friend, grab a coffee and go experience this great benefit of Loop Campus living.
